We went on a 3D2N safari organised by Crown Eagle Adventures in Arusha. Six of us, plus a driver/guide (August) and a cook (Kom) and all the equipment managed to fit in a Landcruiser. The landcruiser had removable roof panels for better viewing of the animals. Whilst we were in the park the cook set up the tents and prepared the meal.
We first went to Tarangire Park which is well known for its Baobab trees and many elephants. Baobab trees are huge. They don't seem so enormous at first, until you realise that the tree is making elephants or giraffes standing under its branches look very small.
Sure enough we saw many elephants and were surprised to get within 15 meters of some of them. Other animals we saw included giraffe, impala, baboon, vervet monkey, warthog, dik dik, waterbuck, storks and many more birds. But the big ones are the favourites!
We then went to Ngorongoro Crater, a huge crater filled with herds of zebra, wildebeest and buffalo. There are also lion, cheeta, rhino, hippo, gazelle, hyena, ostrich, other big birds and lots more. We saw just about everything there was. The rhino's and cheeta's were quite far in the distance, but very recognisable none the less.
